If some credible sources in the Pakistani media are to be believed, Head Coach Misbah ul Haq is going to be replaced by a foreign coach after the home series against South Africa. The Proteas are expected to land on the 16th of January in Karachi before they start their isolation period.
The first Test match starts on the 26th of January in the city of lights and a lot of sources have claimed that it is going to be the last assignment for Misbah ul Haq as Head Coach.

The reason behind these reports is the humiliating performance against New Zealand across T20I and Test series recently. The Men in Green lost the T20I series 2-1 whereas they were whitewashed in the Test series by Kane Williamson and company.

As far as the coaching role is concerned, there are two possible names popping up for the job of a new Head Coach. Former Indian Head Coach and South African opening batsman Gary Kirsten and Former England Head Coach and Zimbabwe’s Captain Andy Flower are being considered for the job by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The reports surrounding the Pakistani cricketing fraternity also suggest that Gary Kirsten has excused himself from the offer whereas Andy Flower has asked for more time.

As far as Misbah’s coaching period is concerned, the former Captain of Pakistan could only win T20I and Test series’ against Bangladesh. They were also able to win a Test series against Sri Lanka but, they lost the T20I home series to the Islanders that and it was the first assignment for Misbah as Head Coach.
According to Shoaib Jatt, the upcoming series of Pakistan vs South Africa would be the last series of Misbah ul Haq as a head coach. He will be removed after that and the new head coach of Pakistan is going to be a foreigner.

The Men in Green suffered a whitewash in Australia Tests in December 2019 whereas they were also whitewashed in the T20I series in the same month. Following those defeats, the Men in Green couldn’t win in England either and the Test series was drawn 1-0 in the favor of the hosts.

The T20I series against England was leveled at 1-1 as Misbah ul Haq and company registered their first overseas victory after their appointment. The series against New Zealand is the latest failure of this management and it’s only about time the replacement is announced by the PCB.
